Empowering Energy Access in the Just Energy Transition: Containerised Microgrids for Off-Grid Communities in Africa-Slides

Abstract:As the world and the African continent transitions to a more sustainable energy future, microgrids have emerged as a viable solution for energy access in off-grid communities. This webinar will delve into the design & implementation covering the key considerations, technologies and steps required in the designing and operation of a microgrid. A case study highlighting the benefits of microgrids and best practices learnt in Eskom’s journey whilst deploying this technology in far outskirt regions of the country. The role of technology, education and training in this new transition, highlighting the programmes at recently decommissioned Komati Power Station. Komati is the first Power Station in South Africa to under repowering and repurposing to support the nations Just Energy Transition.
