Abstract: This webinar will start with a brief introduction of a few key power electronics research initiatives at the Ohio State University in recent years. The applications of these initiatives span industrial motor drives, electric propulsion for aircraft, and power distribution on the moon's surface. Then, most part of this webinar will concentrate on integrated liquid metal-based cooling for power electronic circuits. The basics of liquid metal-based cooling, principles of pumps, including two circuit-integrated pumps, and the performance, benefits, and remaining challenges of liquid metal-based cooling will be discussed in detail.
