Abstract: The current-source SSTs has gained increasing interest due to its superior fault tolerance and control flexibility compared to the voltage-source SST. In this lecture, an overview of the recent advances in the area of current-source SST technology is provided. Two major current-source converter topologies for SST application are presented. The modulation methods and the control/modelling will also be discussed.
